After 2 effective working days, the Plenary of Committee on Earth Observation Committee 2019 ended on the afternoon of 16th October 2019 with the participation of its 30 members.
At the plenary, Vietnam’s two initiatives that are carbon observations (including forested areas) and observation for agriculture (rice monitoring) were presented and highly supported by CEOS member. CEOS members also discussed and made annual and long-term CEOS operational decisions, plans and strategies; developing and implementing regional and international multilateral cooperation missions.

Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) confirmed to continue to cooperate and provide ALOS-2 Satellite data to VNSC for serving Vietnam Data Cube. The Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) supports Indian satellite data and capacity training for rice and flood observation applications.

During the Closing session, Dr. Pham Anh Tuan, Chairman of CEOS 2019 handed over the Chairmanship of CEOS 2020 to the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO).
CEOS is the focal point for coordinating international activities related to space and Earth observation. CEOS encourages interaction, support and complementarity between Earth observation satellite systems through coordination of planning, promotion of non-discriminatory data access, standards setting and data development.

Becoming a member of CEOS and undertaking the CEOS Chairmanship 2019 has brought back many benefits, experiences as well as potential international cooperation opportunities in the field of space technology and applications to Vietnam.
