The GLOBE TEACHERS TRAINING workshop 2019

Ho Chi Minh City Space Technology Application Center, Vietnam National Space Center in collaboration with the Center for Education and Development (CED) organized The GLOBE TEACHERS TRAINING workshop 2019 at the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology (Ho Chi Minh branch) on November 8th, 2019.

The GLOBE Program – The Global Learning and Observations to Benefit the Environment Program is an international science and education program that provides students and the public worldwide with the opportunity to participate in data collection and the scientific process, and contribute meaningfully to our understanding of the Earth system and global environment.

Overview of the training workshop on GLOBE 2019 program

This is the second time the GLOBE Program has been held in Ho Chi Minh City to update knowledge and expand its implementation. The training course with the support of Dr. Desh Bandhu – Coordinator of GLOBE Asia-Pacific Regional Coordination Office, President of Indian Environmental Society; Mr. Pulla Rao Gadde from Indian Environmental Society; and with the participation of 80 teachers from junior high schools and high schools in Ho Chi Minh City.

The teachers had been taught through three theories in the GLOBE Program: Atmosphere, Hydrology and Soil, as well as how to post data on the GLOBE community website. Furthermore, after each protocol theory, the training session also had a practical session to provide practical knowledge on how to implement scientific processes for teachers such as measuring soil temperature, observing clouds, measuring degrees pH and TDS of water and so on.

At the end of the class, the teachers expect the GLOBE workshop to be more organized so that could support and encourage students to study more actively.
