Former NASA Administrator visits Vietnam National Space Center

In the morning of June 10, 2019, Mr. Charles Frank Bolden Jr. – Former NASA Administrator, Former Astronaut, who travelled 4 times to orbit, Envoy of Space of the US Department of State’s Science – came to visit and work with Vietnam National Space Center, Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology.

Attending the meeting, there were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Anh Tuan – Director General; Mr. Vu Viet Phuong – Vice Director General and representatives and leaders from Vietnam National Space Center.

In the beginning, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Anh Tuan introduced VNSC’s activities including satellite development roadmap, satellite imagery exploitation and application, capacity building, etc. to Mr. Charles Bolden.

Mr. Charles Bolden also shared about NASA’s activities on Moon and Mars missions as well as private companies’ activities on developing commercial rockets providing launching services with reasonable price.

In the meetings, the two sides also discussed about the strategies and experiences in managing space programmes, museums and public education projects and how to strengthen the collaboration on space science and technology between the US and Vietnam, especially between NASA and VNSC.
