VIETNAM NATIONAL SPACE CENTER – VIETNAM ACADEMY OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY ORGANIZES WORKSHOP “VIETNAM – ITALY COOPERATION ON SPACE TECHNOLOGY AND APPLICATIONS”

The workshop “Vietnam – Italy Cooperation in Space Technology and Applications,” co-organized by the Vietnam National Space Center (VNSC) – the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology (VAST), and the Embassy of Italy in Hanoi, took place on February 21, 2025, at VNSC. The event attracted the attention of over 60 participants attending both in person and online.

Vietnamese delegates included representatives from various ministries and sectors such as Ministry of Science and Technology, National Remote Sensing Department, Mapping Department… as well as units under VAST, including Space Technology Institute, Institute of Geology, and the Institute of Geography. Participants also came from universities such as Hanoi University of Mining and Geology, Hanoi University of Science and Technology, and Vietnam National University, along with private companies like Vegastar Technology Co., Ltd., Spatial Decisions Vietnam Co., Ltd., and others. From the Italian side, Ambassador Marco Della Seta presented, along with representatives from the Italian Embassy in Vietnam, Italian Space Agency, TASI Company, Leonardo Company, Laboratori Nazionali di Frascati, Institute of Advanced University Education, Italian National Research Council, University of Milan…

The workshop “Vietnam – Italy Cooperation in Space Technology and Applications” marks the third collaborative event between VNSC and Embassy of Italy in Hanoi, following the successful workshops held in 2022 and 2023.

In his opening remarks, Dr. Vu Anh Tuan – Deputy Director General of VNSC  shared: “The first meeting was a workshop where we initiated our cooperative efforts. The second meeting was an exhibition showcasing satellite imagery of Earth from Italian observation satellites and the research achievements from both sides. Today, at our third event, we have combined both elements – a comprehensive workshop and a photo session titled ‘The Italian Spaceway’ highlighting significant achievements in space science and technology applications from both Vietnam and Italy. The outcomes of our previous meetings have been very positive, leading to meaningful interactions and exchanges, and the formation of a joint research project on international cooperation between Vietnam and Italy.”

Speakers from both sides including representatives from state organizations, academic institutions, and private sectors presented ongoing projects and explored further collaboration opportunities at the workshop which was successful and left a positive impression on the audiences. The photo session will continue to be displayed on the first floor of VNSC, Building A6, 18 Hoang Quoc Viet str., until March 7, 2025.
