Prof. Duong Ngoc Hai, Vice President of VAST, Prof. Nguyen Khoa Son from Vietnam Space Technology Program, leaders of institutes of VAST; Mr. Takashi KADOMATSU – representatives of Japan Ministry of Economic, Trade and Industry (METI), Mr. Michio DAITO – representative of Japan Embassy in Vietnam, Prof. Shinichi NAKASUKA from University of Tokyo, more than 30 scientists and experts from Vietnam and 40 other scientists, experts and representatives of organizations from Japan had attended the workshop.
At the workshop, Prof. Pham Anh Tuan – Director of Vietnam National Satellite Center had introduced VNSC, the cooperation program in capacity building with universities in Japan and the future cooperation with Japanese partners in space technology and applications. Prof. Nguyen Khoa Son had presented an overview of Vietnam National Research Program on Space Science and Technology with main scientific outcomes of the inception phase 2008-2011, some other related activities, and objectives for the period 2011-2015. Dr. Bui Trong Tuyen – Director of Small Satellites Project Management Unit had presented the VNREDSat-1 project, the first earth observation satellite of Vietnam. Representatives from Japan organizations such as METI, JAXA had introduced the potential cooperation programs in space science and technology, while representatives from companies such as NEC, MELCO, MHI, IHI Aerospace had talked about satellite manufacture and launching system, and other organizations such as Pasco, RESTEC, Japan Space Systems had presented in potential applications of satellite technology. And last but not least, Prof. Nakasuka from University of Tokyo had presented the education projects and programs on satellite technology.
The success of the workshop has shown the potential of long-term and effective cooperation between Vietnam and Japan in the development of space technology and application.
