On September 17th 2015, Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology (VAST) held an insignia awarding ceremony for Mr. Daito Michio, Economic Counsellor, Embassy of Japan in Vietnam before the end of his term.
Attending the ceremony, Professional and Academic Chau Van Minh, President of VAST, directly awarded an insignia for Mr. Daito Michio, with the attendance of his wife and daughter, the successor – Mr. Nakajima and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ninh Khac Ban – Director of International Cooperation Department, Assoc. Prof. Pham Anh Tuan, Director of Vietnam National Satellite Center and other representatives.
Since beginning his term from August 2011 to September 2015, Mr. Daito Michio has made active contributions to the effective cooperation between VAST and Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency JAXA in developing science, technology and space applications; active support in signing the loan agreement between the International Cooperation Agency of Japan ( JICA ) and the Government of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and amending the loan agreement of JICA for Project of Disaster Response and Climate Change using Earth observation satellite (Vietnam Space Center Project); comprehensive support in the process of implementing Vietnam Space Center Project especially in the negotiation of Vietnam and Japan to help Vietnam receicve space technology transferred from Japan. Currently, he actively supports in promoting information exchange in the preparation phase of Project “Vietnam – Japan Advanced Technology Center”.
Based on his contributions above, VNSC proposed to VAST awarding VAST’s insignia, for Mr. Daito Michio. Addressing in the ceremony, President of VAST appreciated his active support and expressed deepest thanks to Mr. Daito Michio. Besides, President Chau Van Minh also wishes Mr. Daito Michio all success on his new position at METI, and hope that his successor – Mr. Nakajima continues to support the cooperation between Vietnam and Japan on issues of developing science, technology and space application in the future.


Furthermore, Mr. Daito Michio sincerely shared his stories in his daily life as well as at work during his term in Vietnam. After returning to Japan to take up the new position in Ministry of Economy Trade and Industry Japan (METI), he also promised to keep supporting the cooperation between Vietnam and Japan in developing space technology. At the end of the ceremony, President of VAST and the representatives of International Cooperation Department and Vietnam National Satellite Center … offered flowers and souvenirs, took photos with Mr.Daito Michio and his family. The ceremony successfully took place with the formal and intimate atmostphere.
