Functions and Tasks
- Functions:
Department of Spatial equipment fabrication and Autonomous system is an unit under Vietnam National Space Center (VNSC), responsible for fundamental research, technology development, international cooperation and training in the fields of space technology, automation technology, device fabrication and, related areas.
- Tasks:
- Conduct fundamental research in space technology, new materials, smart materials, nano and micro-structured materials (NEWS/MEMS); micro- and nano-sized devices, robotics and autonomous systems.
- Mechanical systems design, modelling and simulation; Develop control algorithms and software; design control systems in automation, robotics, autonomous vehicles and space technology.
- Research and develop devices for the application and exloitation of space technology.
- Develop capabilities in manufacturing certain types of intelligent robots, integrating and producing simulation modeling equipment, scientific instruments, and specialized experimental devices in alignment with the infrastructure and equipment of the VNSC.
- Manage, utilize, and optimize assigned assets and equipment efficiently.
- Provide scientific and technological services in space technology, automation technology, and other related fields.
- Engage in international cooperation and training in space technology, automation technology, and related fields.
- Carry out other tasks as assigned by the Directorate of VNSC.

- International Cooperation: Vietnam’s Contact of Point in Vietnam in Asia-Pacific Regional Space Agency Forum (APRSAF), participating in the space education activities organized by JAXA are Kibo Robot Programming Challenge (KRPC) and Asian Herb in Space (AHiS). For KRPC, every year there is a student team participating and achieving high rankings.
